George Rogers Clark’s boys soccer team traveled to Bourbon County Tuesday night in a matchup of 39th District teams.

The Colonels, losers of five straight heading into the matchup, were looking to avenge their loss in last year’s 39th District Tournament, a 5-0 Cardinals win.

The Cardinals, however, had other plans. On the road for their sixth straight game, unbeaten during the stretch, GRC looked to extend their lead in the district and region.

The Cards did just that, scoring six goals against a Colonels defense that has allowed the second-most goals in the region this season.

Brandon Beltran, the Cards leading scorer this season, scored twice against the Colonels, bringing his season total to 20. Beltran has also scored in every game he has played in this season, excluding the game against Corbin he left early due to injury.

Beltran was also able to pick up an assist to senior Tyree Brown, his third goal of the year.

Skyler Hamon, Joe Dolen and Dylan Reffett each added on one goal for the Cardinals. Josh Durham assisted Dolen on his goal.

Zeke Ross earned his first complete game shutout of the season in goal for the Cardinals, scooping up five saves.

George Rogers Clark is back in action tonight as they travel to Boyle County for their final road game of the season.

Boyle County is 8-7-1 on the season and will remember last season’s 2-1 loss to the Cards when they take the field.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
