If you had the money, what project in Winchester would you invest in?

— Chlandra Chenault: “I would invest in a Food Court and a entertainment complex. To rent for weddings, parties and birthday events. Both are definitely needed in this community.”

— Caitlin Carroll: “I would love to have a family fun center. Bowling, arcade games. A little restaurant. Something fun for all ages.”

— Bruce T. Manley: “A full healthcare education training center at BCTC including surgery technician, radiology, pharmacy technician, EMT, paramedic, and other high demand careers that bring high wages to our community.”

— Marsha Dameron Hood: “We are the only community in the area without a completed bypass. I would finish it to stimulate some growth.”

— Scott McElligott: “A nice long bike trail, kind of like Legacy Trail in Lexington. Have it connect to the surrounding communities. There are plenty of open areas where it could start and then be added on to over the years. It would be nice if all the surrounding towns could eventually be connected.”

— Jennifer Bellamy Turley: “A big nice outdoor pool, inspiration could come from mimicking Woodland pool in Lexington. We need something fun for families. A bowling alley would be nice. Mt Sterling’s bowling alley/arcade/movie theater is nice and CLEAN, if WE had something like that was kept up , we wouldn’t have to travel elsewhere for entertainment.”

— Stephen McIntosh: “I would invest it in our law enforcement to help clean up the drug problem in our small town! Until we deal with that, we’ll never be able to improve Winchester!”

— Tammy Perdue: “A huge complex complete with baseball and softball fields, walking and bike track, water park and a huge playground area that includes swings for individuals with disabilities, several picnic shelters and grills, dog park. You could bring in money by allowing baseball and softball tournaments and 5k runs You could rent the water park out in the evenings for events.”

— Brian Elligson: “I would open and operate a bowling alley/arcade. Something to bring young families here. It’s been a dream of mine for several years. That and a nice cigar shop.”

— Hannah Hayslett: “Something for kids or even adults who have disabilities. A park that includes sensory items, handicapped swings and teeter totters, etc. like castlewood park in Lexington. Or maybe even an indoor center like the explorium in Lexington. Just somewhere where they can feel involved and included. I work with people with disabilities and having to travel to find somewhere where they can feel involved and okay without getting terrible stares from people who don’t understand is so hard. Just, in general, a place where they feel like they can be themselves and loved by the community and “normal” for once.”

— Marilyn Keefer: “Fixing up downtown! Our downtown is super cool and has such great history but some of the buildings are just falling apart. I’d love to see some new business’ downtown. I think that would benefit the town greatly and bring life back to downtown. Plus, a really cool arcade like place- a safe place for kids and teens to hang out- would be something I would love to see downtown!”
