George Rogers Clark’s girls soccer team traveled to Scott High School over the weekend in a matchup of 10th Region heavyweights.
The Cardinals were undefeated in region play and winners of six straight headed into the match.
Scott sat in third place in the 10th Region before the match, two spots behind the region-leading Cardinals.
After an early Lady Eagles goal to start the game, GRC evened the score before halftime. A Ciana Araya goal from a Delaney Manning assist tied it up at 1-1 with five minutes to play.
The goal brought Araya to 15 for the season, tied for the third-most on the team.
However, Scott was able to find the net again before the teams headed to the locker room, taking a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Neither team was able to find another goal in the second half, leaving the score at 2-1 and sending the Cardinals back home with a loss.
GRC still sits atop the 10th Region standings and is set to play their last regular-season home game against Martin County on Saturday at 7 p.m.
