The George Rogers Clark boys soccer team was able to bounce back from their first hiccup, a 2-2 tie to one of the state’s best defenses, during their seven-game road trip.
The Cardinals traveled to Pendelton County to take on another 10th Region opponent.
The Wildcats have struggled on offense all season, scoring 20 goals, the second fewest in the region.
Thursday night was no different, and the Cardinals defense was able to pick up their fifth clean sheet of the season, and first since Sept. 3.
GRC’s Brandon Beltran scored two goals for the Cardinals, bringing his season total up to 18, an average of 1.6 per game.
Beltran also got his teammates involved, adding an assist to Dylan Reffet, his first goal of the season.
The Cardinals are set to take on struggling district rival Bourbon County, who sits near the bottom of the region standings, on Tuesday. This will be the Card’s second-to-last road game of the regular season. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
