The Warriors are coming off back-to-back 10-3 seasons where they reached the quarterfinals of the 5A playoffs, but have stumbled out of the gate this season, starting 1-3 and have been outscored by opponents 55-131.

Southwestern’s offense has been rather balanced, with a slight advantage to the run game. They have picked up five touchdowns and 541 yards on the ground, compared to three touchdowns and 403 yards through the air.

GRC’s offense has produced more this season through one less game, racking up 761 yards rushing and nine touchdowns to go along with 434 yards passing and four touchdowns.

A player to watch on Southwestern’s offense is Xavier Streeter, who has taken snaps at quarterback and wide receiver this season. He has led the team in receiving twice and passing once.

If he lines up at wide receiver this week, watch for him to be guarded by GRC’s Tye Boyken. Boyken is one of the Cardinals most reliable corners and has been called on to shut down other team’s best wideouts this season. Boyken has picked up 16 tackles on the season, including a team-high 11 against Tates Creek, and one interception.

Their defense has been suspect, giving up no less than three touchdowns to each opponent this season. They have also given up 891 rushing yards through four games, which could mean another big day for GRC’s Azariah Israel, who finished with 346 yards and six touchdowns on only 11 carries on the ground last week.

GRC has given up 368 yards per game so far this season, slightly worse than the Warriors 316.3, but have allowed fewer points per game, 28.3 compared to 32.8.
