Afa Carl Ballard, 92, of Lexington, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2019.
He was married to Edith Johnson Ballard for 57 years before she passed away December 1, 2012.
Carl was born in Clark County, February 16, 1927, to the late George Mason Ballard and Lucy Shearer Ballard.
He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Central Christian Church, Lexington.
Carl was an avid lover of fishing and hunting. He worked for Blanton’s Termite Company and the University of Kentucky.
He is survived by a son, James Mason Ballard; three grandchildren, Kelly Nichole Ballard, Kristi Totten and Jessica Totten; sister Ann B. Humble (Phillip); brother, Robert L. Ballard (Janice); sister- in -law Woodie H. Harbett; a niece, Whitney A. Ballard and a nephew, George Matthew Ballard.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Hallie B. McCloud, two brothers, Shirley L. Ballard and George Jackson Ballard.
Services will be at 2:00PM Friday, September 20, 2019 at Milward Funeral, 319 Southland Drive, Lexington, KY by Don Burkhead. Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 AM until time of service. Pallbearers will be George Ballard, John Ballard, Calvin Gulley, Randy Holman, Stuart Kenny, James Marcinek, Vic Mondelli and Greg Wilson.
