After a draw and back-to-back losses, the George Rogers Clark boys soccer team got the ball rolling again with its third straight victory.
The Cardinals (7-2-1) are currently sitting atop the 10th Region standings.
GRC got freshman forward Brandon Beltran back on the field after he had missed two games with a shin injury.
Beltran picked up where he left off, scoring the first goal of the night for the Cardinals. It was his 12th goal of the season and he kept his streak of scoring at least one goal in each game he’s played and finished so far this season alive.
Taylan Hayes also scored a goal for the Cardinals and Nathan Sidwell and Will Carrington each got an assist.
Goalkeeper Tayman Hayes continued on with his monster season, scooping up 12 saves. Tayman is now 15th in the state in total saves with 93 so far this season. He’s also posted four shutouts, good enough for 21st in the state.
The Cardinals are two games into a seven-game road trip. They are set to take on Somerset (4-6-1) tonight as they travel to take on the Briar Jumpers at 7:30 p.m.
Somerset is coming off its best soccer of the season, winning two games in the Thoroughbred Cup this past weekend.
