Josephine Moore McDavid Hubbard, 90, widow of Dr. John S. Hubbard, passed away on Tuesday, January 03, 2017, at Fountain Circle Care and Rehabilitation. She was a resident of Rose Mary Brooks Place.
A native of Ashland, Kentucky, Mrs. Hubbard was the daughter of James Allen and Henrietta Moore McDavid. A resident of Winchester since 1938, she was a graduate of Clark Co. High School, Transylvania College and the Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD. She was employed as a registered nurse at the Johns Hopkins and Clark Co. hospitals. She also taught mentally handicapped children in one of the first such classes in Clark County.
After retirement, Mrs. Hubbard served as a volunteer at Hospice East and the Clark Co. Public Library.
A life-long member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), she attended Winchester’s First Christian Church where she was active in the Christian Women’s Fellowships.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hubbard was preceded in death by her sisters, Myrtle Ann M. Bender and Mary Sue M. Stevens.
She is survived by her children, Susan J. Hubbard of Lexington and James W. Hubbard (Susan) of Winchester; grandsons, Patrick (Sarah) Andrew and Jonathan Hubbard; and great-granddaughter, Eleanor Hubbard. She is also survived by three nieces, Joan Steven Mazurek (Harold) and Leslie Stevens Curtis (Richard) of Versailles and Carla Ann Bender Kramer of Savannah, GA.
Services will be at 1:00pm Friday, January 6, 2017, at Scobee Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Winchester Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00pm Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Scobee Funeral Home.
