A domestic dispute led to an arson charge against a Winchester woman after she allegedly set a fire in their home.
According to court documents, Winchester Police officers responded to a call on Magnolia Street concerning a fire and a woman causing a disturbance. When officers arrived on the scene, they found 51-year-old Anita Young standing outside and a mobile home, which was full of smoke.
Through the investigation, officers determined she had been in an argument with her husband, during which she allegedly struck him.
When he went to get help, she allegedly set a blanket on fire inside the mobile home and left. When she passed her husband on the street, she reportedly said, “Your house is on fire,” according to the arrest citation.
Officers said the husband ran inside and extinguished the fire, and was burned in the process.
Young of 154 Magnolia St., was arrested by Winchester Police late Sunday night for first-degree arson, fourth-degree assault and alcohol intoxication.
