Alvin “Chic” Wilson Jr., 95

Bro. Alvin “Chic” Wilson, Jr., 95, passed away on June 30, 2019, at Sayre Christian Village, Lexington.

He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Pearle Irene Wilson.

Born in Lonaconing, Maryland, September 23, 1923, he was the son of the late Alvin and Elsie Wilson.

He joined the U.S. Army in October, 1944, and earned the rank of Tech Sergeant.

He was awarded the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster for his service during World War II. Bro.

Wilson was ordained into the ministry in 1965.

As an Evangelist for 12 years, he traveled around the United States preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In 1978, he became pastor of the Wiles Hill Church of God in Morgantown, West Virginia. T

he Wilsons moved to Stanton, Kentucky in 1986, then moved to Winchester, Kentucky in 2007.

He is survived by two daughters, Georgiann Catlett of Staunton, Virginia, Phyllis (William) James of Winchester, one son, Gregory (Mary) Wilson of Mt. Sterling, and one sister, Elsie O’Connell of Baltimore, Maryland.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one sister.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be held at the First Church of God on Colby Road in Winchester, on Wednesday July 3, beginning at 10:00am with service to follow at 1:00pm, Chaplin Tyler Greene officiating.
