— The Generations Center Advisory Council honored late Winchester City Commissioner Lee Ashcraft during a service to dedicate a memorial garden in his name at the center.

— Pam Whitesides, former assistant principal at Clark Middle School, was named principal of the school. She succeeded Don Burkhead, who was retiring after three years at the helm.

June 5, 2004

— Ex-George Rogers Clark High School softball star Lori Bayless was chosen Outstanding Female Athlete at Tennessee Tech. Bayless was chosen over 10 other finalists.

June 2, 1994

— John Kirby, son of Jim and Sharon Kirby, beat out 907 other students nationwide to earn a National Merit Finalist Scholarship to attend the University of Kentucky.

June 4, 1994

— Recipients of Good Citizenship Awards from Hart Chapter, National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, were Crystal Adams, Jamie Wilhite, Laine Rogers, Stacie Fugleman, Elizabeth “Katie” Guth, Tina Martin, Jonathan Huber, Chris Irwin, Jessica Colleen Pasley, Casey Joe Harp, Ashley Ruth Johnson, Alicia Still and Tim Smith.

June 7, 1994

— Jo Ann Dove, director of the Early Childhood Development Center for 21 years, was honored by officers of the ECDC Parent Group. Dove was set to retire at the end of the month.

— Natasha Stamper was elected State Junior Beta Club reporter for 1994-95 at the Kentucky Junior Beta Club Convention.

June 3, 1969

— Kenneth B. Caudill, principal at Becknerville School, was presented a silver tea service by the faculty and students of the school. Caudill would be principal at Hickman School the next school year.

June 5, 1969

— Jack Bachman, president of the Winchester Rotary Club, presented a check for $1,500 to Frank Downing, chairman of the city-county parks and recreation board. The check represented the club’s payment of its pledge of $,1500 to the new community pool under construction at Community Park.
