Winchester Police are investigating a rash of vandalism Tuesday night that damaged six vehicles and two buildings.

According to Winchester Police, the incidents happened on Crescent, Belmont and Moundale avenues and South Main Street. The first incident was reported around 7 a.m. Wednesday.

“We believe it’s kids or someone without access to a vehicle because it’s not spread out very far,” Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said.

Except for one call on Crescent Avenue, the damage appeared to be limited to spray paint, he said. Police records indicated at one residence on Crescent, the garage door was spray painted, and a window was broken on a shed on the property.

At this point, no one has been charged, but Hall said detectives have a lead on potential suspects.

“They think they have a good line on who was doing it,” Hall said. “We don’t believe it’s gang-related. We think it’s youngsters doing stupid stuff.”
