Liberty Bible Church of God chooses pastor
— Liberty Bible Church of God, located at 6615 Veterans Memorial Highway, has called the Rev. Lonnie Storms from Corbin to be their senior pastor. Storms and his wife, Joyce, will be at the church Sunday. Services at Liberty Bible Church God are as follows: Sunday School, 9:30 a.m.; Sunday church services, 10:30 a.m.; Sunday evening Bible study, 6 p.m.; and youth group, 6 to 7 p.m. Sundays. The church also provides children’s church and nursery care.
— There will be a yard sale at the church from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 4. In case of inclement weather, the sale will be moved into the church fellowship hall.
Gospel singing at Evangelistic Outreach
Evangelistic Outreach Church, located at 8 N. Bloomfield Road, hosts gospel singings each Saturday at 6 p.m. Pastor is Ed Hopper.
Easter musical at First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church, 32 E. Lexington Ave., will host “When I Survery the Wondrous Cross,” an Easter musical at 11 a.m. on Palm Sunday, April 14, at the church. Admission is free. Child care is provided. For more information, call 744-2884.
Services at First Christian
First Christian Church, 24 E. Hickman St., offers worship services at 10:45 a.m. Sundays. There is a children’s sermon given each Sunday, along with a children’s “Worship and Wonder” class. Communion is served each Sunday and all who attend are invited to share in it. Services include music from the church’s choir, pianist and organist.
Corinthian Baptist anniversary celebration
Corinthian Baptist Church, 37 Fifth St., will have its 97th anniversary April 14. Morning worship will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by dinner. Afternoon worship will begin at 3 p.m. with guest preacher the Rev. Michael Zachary and congregation of the Centerville Baptist Church, Paris. The public is invited.
Holy Week at Emmanuel Episcopal
Holy Week services at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 2410 W. Lexington Ave., include Palm Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 14, Maundy Thursday at 7 p.m. April 18, Stations of the Cross at 6 p.m. April 19 followed by Good Friday Liturgy at 7 p.m.; Great Easter Vigil at 7 p.m. April 20; and Easter Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 21. All are welcome and invited.
Sunrise service at Grace Bible
Grace Bible Church, 250 N. Main St., will have an Easter sunrise service at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, April 21, on the church lawn. P.B. Burton will be the guest speaker.
St. James CME community outreach
Greater St. James CME Church will serve free food during a community outreach from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Heritage Park on Washington Street.
Lenten recital series at First UMC
First United Methodist Church, 204 S. Main St., invites the community to pause each Tuesday during the lenten season for 30 minutes of reflective seasonal music. The final meeting will be at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 16. The sessions are hosted by Anne Willis will guest recitalists from the area. For more information, call 744-5410.
Lamb and Lion Ministries Prophecy Conference
Grace Bible Church will play host to the Lion and Lamb Ministries Regional Prophecy Conference Friday, April 26, through Sunday, April 28. The Friday session will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and will include exhibits, a concert by Southern Raised and a keynote address. Saturday’s sessions will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with exhibits, presentations from Billy Crone on The Destiny of Israel, Dave Reagan on the The Destiny of the Nations, Tim Moore about The Destiny of America, Nathan Jones about The Destiny of Islam and Dave Reagan about The Destiny of the Church. Sunday’s session will include a question and answer event with Dave Reagan at 9:15 a.m. followed by a 10:30 a.m. morning worship service. The church is located at 250 N. Food pantry at First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church, 37 N. Highland St., operates a food pantry in partnership with God’s Pantry from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday at the church. The pantry is open to those in need and for donations from the community. For more information, call the church at 744-6624.
Services at Salem Church at Pine Grove
“I believe in the holy catholic church and the communion of saints,” is an affirmation made in the Apostles’ Creed that sometimes causes confusion. The congregation of Salem Church at Pine Grove, 312 Combs Ferry Road, will try to sort it out this Sunday, as Pastor Don Stanley nears the completion of his Lenten sermon series. Sunday worship at the “Small Country Church with a Big Heart for Jesus” begins at 11 a.m. A Maundy Thursday Communion service will be held at 6 p.m., during which Pastor Don leads the congregation in a consideration of the phrase “I believe in the forgiveness of sins.”
Services at First Presbyterian Church
Services at First Presbyterian Church, 130 Windridge Drive, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Worship will be lively and traditional. Come dressed casual or formal, but more importantly, come expecting to be moved by the Spirit. Sunday school classes for children, youth and adults begin at 9:30 a.m. Sundays.
