Clark Regional Medical Center today announced Aphreikah DuHaney-West has been named chief executive officer, effective May 20.
DuHaney-West comes to CRMC from Teche Regional Medical Center, another LifePoint Health facility in Morgan City, Louisiana, where she served as CEO.
She will replace Barbara Kinder, CRMC’s chief clinical officer, who is currently serving as interim CEO. Kinder will continue serving in her role as CCO.
“Aphreikah is a passionate and engaged leader who is deeply committed to fostering a culture of quality, patient safety and physician and employee satisfaction,” said Cherie Sibley, president of LifePoint Health’s Central Division, of which CRMC is a part. “Her commitment to our mission of ‘Making Communities Healthier’ is unwavering, and I look forward to her leading CRMC as the hospital continues its efforts to create places where people choose to come for healthcare, physicians want to practice and employees want to work.”
A veteran LifePoint leader, DuHaney-West has served in several leadership roles within the organization. Prior to her tenure at Teche Regional Medical Center, she served as CEO of Mercy Regional Medical Center and Acadian Medical Center, former LifePoint facilities in Ville Platte and Eunice, Louisiana, respectively.
Before that, she served as chief nursing officer for Havasu Regional Medical Center in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and Logan Regional Medical Center in Logan, West Virginia.
Before joining LifePoint, she served in various clinical and operational leadership roles at Gila River Health Care Corporation in Sacaton, Arizona, and Paradise Valley Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.
“Aphreikah’s operational expertise, her focus on quality and patient safety, and her ability to foster growth and engage with the community are exactly what we were looking for in a new leader,” said the Rev. Raymond Smith, chairman of CRMC’s board of trustees. “We are confident she will have a tremendously positive impact on our hospital as we continue to provide high-quality care close to home for the communities we serve.”
DuHaney-West is a certified professional in patient safety and a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
She is the recipient of numerous honors, including the United States Public Health Service Award in 2010 and selection as a nurse executive delegate to Cuba by the American Organization of Nurse Executives.
“I am thrilled to be joining the wonderful team at Clark Regional and look forward to making the Winchester community my home,” DuHaney-West said. “Clark Regional has an excellent reputation for providing high quality and compassionate care to the people of this region, and I look forward to being part of continuing its legacy into the future.”
