ROAR training at COLG

The ROAR Vacation Bible School training and networking event called VBS FunShop is being hosted at the Church of the Living God, 114 Franklin Avenue in Winchester. The session will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23. Registration is $20 per person in advance or $40 each at the door or after the pre-registration date of March 11. Area churches that are planning to present Group Publishing’s Roar VBS this summer will receive hands-on training from a Group VBS expert to maximize the impact of their VBS program. Chili/soup supper at Eastside Baptist

The Eastside Baptist Church Women’s Circle will have a chili and soup supper from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the church, 148 E. Broadway St., weather permitting.

Events at Trinity UMC

— Trinity United Methodist Church, 307 N. Main St., has Sunday services at 10:30 a.m.

— Trinity United Methodist Church Thrift Store is open every Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Food pantry at First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church, 37 N. Highland St., operates a food pantry in partnership with God’s Pantry from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday at the church. The pantry is open to those in need and for donations from the community. For more information, call the church at 744-6624.

Services at Salem Church at Pine Grove

This Sunday, the congregation of Salem Church at Pine Grove, 312 Combs Ferry Road, begins a Lenten journey through the Apostles’ Creed. This week, Pastor Don Stanley leads a consideration of the phrase, “I believe in God the Father Almighty…” proposing there are three things even God can’t do. Worship at the “Small Country Church with a Big Heart for Jesus” begins at 11 a.m.

Services at First Presbyterian Church

— Services at First Presbyterian Church, 130 Windridge Drive, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Worship will be lively and traditional. Come dressed casual or formal, but more importantly, come expecting to be moved by the Spirit. Sunday school classes for children, youth and adults begin at 9:30 a.m. Sundays. Junior high and high school youth groups meet from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sundays. All are welcome. The Rev. Ryan Bradney is pastor. Contact the church office at 744-3722 for more information.

— The church will soon begin a weekly grief support groups for anyone experiencing the loss of a loved one. The ministry will be a time for listening, support and prayer. All are welcome. Anyone interested in the group is asked to call Pastor Ryan Bradney at 744-3722 to talk about the best time to schedule meetings.
