GRC girls hit boards, top Notre Dame

The George Rogers Clark High School girls basketball team got a late push to earn a road victory Friday, 55-48 over Notre Dame.
The Cardinals (4-0) trailed Notre Dame (2-3) 38-35 going into the fourth quarter, but used a 20-10 effort to win in Louisville.
GRC out-rebounded the Pandas 40-29, winning the defensive rebounding battle 28-17.
The Cardinals held the Pandas to just 33 percent shooting and 4-of-14 from behind the 3-point stripe.
Shemaya Behanan scored a game-high 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds — including seven defensive boards — to lead the Cards. Jasmine Flowers added 12 points in the win.
Hayley Harrison scored eight points while Maleaha Bell and Kylee Murray each scored seven points. Kennedy Igo tossed in six.
The Pandas were led by Abby Tierney’s 15 points.
GRC has one game left on its road trip, visiting Madison Central (1-3) Monday. The Indians are coming off a 61-55 loss to Casey County at home Saturday.
The Cards return home to take on East Jessamine Thursday. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. at Letcher Norton Gymnasium.
