Hundreds came to First Presbyterian Church Friday to take part in the annual Winchester Empty Bowls hunger awareness event. Participants selected bowls made locally by Dirty South Pottery and enjoyed a vegetarian soup lunch with bread made by Molly Stotts of My Father’s Garden. After finishing their meals, visitors had their bowl cleaned, blessed and given to them as a reminder of those who go without food. Carson Kovaoic wraps a recently washed bowl for a visitor to Winchester Empty Bowls to take home, bottom right photo.

Parking for the event was handled by the George Rogers Clark JROTC program, which volunteers to assist at the event each year.

The leftover food from the meal was donated to the Beacon of Hope homeless shelter on the Bypass, and all proceeds from the event were donated to Clark County Community Services.
