Our View: Many reasons to give thanks

As we start a special week, we hope everyone pauses to reflect on all the blessings in their lives. Even those facing hardships and tribulations can find things for which to be thankful.
Here are just a few of the reasons we are giving thanks this year:
— We are thankful for God and that he put us on this earth.
— We are thankful for the vision of our founding fathers, men who developed a system of government built on freedoms that have made America the greatest country in the world.
— We are thankful for all the men and women who have served, or are currently serving, in the military to defend those freedoms.
— We are thankful to be a part of a great community here in Winchester and Clark County.
— We are thankful for the police, fire, EMS and other emergency responders who help keep our community safe.
— We are thankful our parents instilled values in us and helped shape us into the people we are today.
— We are thankful for our co-workers at the Sun who make going to the office each day a positive experience.
— We are thankful for the amazing educators who help shape our children, giving selflessly to the development of the area’s youth.
— We are thankful for the business and community leaders who make many sacrifices to make Winchester a better place to live. That especially goes for all the men and women who volunteer, always giving back and expecting nothing in return.
— We are thankful that, once a year, we can gather with family around a giant turkey and nourish our bodies. Millions of people, including many right here in Kentucky, struggle to put food on the table every day. We must never forget about helping those who are less fortunate or facing hardships.
— We are thankful that, despite the political fighting and turmoil in our world, things truly will get better.
Happy Thanksgiving to all our readers. We hope you have a great week and joyful day filled with food, family and fellowship.
