Thelma Gentry, a patient at Rockcastle Health and Rehabilitation Center, digs through sand for gold coins during the annual Signature Healthcare Senior Olympics Thursday at College Park Gym.
Seniors traveled all over Thursday from the “Wild, Wild West,” to Las Vegas, Hollywood, the beach and more — all by way of the College Park Gym.
Fourteen Signature Healthcare affiliates gathered in Winchester Thursday to host its annual Senior Olympics.
The company’s “elder vacations” inspired this year’s theme, Ronnie Anderson, a leading organizer of the event, said. She asked the seniors to think about where they would like to go, and brought the location to them.
Anderson said this is the event’s fifth year in Winchester.
Seniors searched for gold, guessed names of celebrities, tossed bean bags, named songs, got their pictures taken at the various destinations and even competed in a lip sync battle.
