Dr. Charles Malcolm Hannan Jr., DDS, 79, of Winchester, husband for 33 years to Hester Hannan, passed away Tuesday at the Clark Regional Medical Center ER.
A native of Ashland, KY, he was born November 28, 1936, to the late Malcolm Hannan and Wilma Moore. He graduated from Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, TN, and University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis, TN in 1961. He practiced dentistry in Winchester and Campton for 55 years. He loved tending to his spectacular flower garden, he was an avid reader who passed his books on to many family and friends; he was also an avid sports fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Charles M. (Julia) Hannan III, Jeff (Sherri) Hannan and Barbara Scrivner all of Winchester; brothers, Fred (Diane) Hannan of Evans, GA and David (Barbara) Hannan of Mobile, AL; step-children, Beverly (Dickie) Hamm Bishop and Allen Hamm of Winchester; beloved grandfather “Hee-Haw” of Ashley (Brian) Hannan Vincent of Rochester, KY, Whitney Hannan of Lexington, Casey (Josh) Hannan of Kansas City, MO, Tyler Hannan of Seattle, WA, Lindsey, Emily and Haley Hannan all of Winchester; great-grandchild, Clay Vincent of Rochester, KY.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 11am at the Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St, with Rev. Larry Deckard, Rev. Ron Ingram and Rev. Don Burkhead presiding. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5p-8p at the funeral home.
