Clark County students and their families will have a chance to get more education on how to address issues like drugs and bullying Wednesday through a class put together by district officials.
The event will take place in the Cardinal Theatre at George Rogers Clark High School. Beginning at 6 p.m., Kentucky State Police Trooper Robert Purdy will speak with kindergarten through sixth grade students and their guardians about drug education and awareness.
Following Purdy at 7 p.m., motivational speaker Scott Harvey will address seventh through 12th grade students and their guardians. Harvey will discuss the dangers of social media and bullying.
Christy Bush, Title 1 Specialist for the district, said the idea for the class came out of a counselors cadre meeting where representatives from the various schools in the district discussed issues affecting their students.
When the issues of drugs and bullying came to the forefront across the district, the group decided to put the class together in an attempt to better educate students and their families, Bush said.
