Sheriff’s deputies confiscated a half-pound block of crystal meth, cocaine and a pair of handguns from a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

According to court documents, Deputy Wesley Craycraft stopped the vehicle around 12:30 a.m. for equipment violations. During the traffic stop, deputies saw an open pocket knife on the console.

After receiving permission to search the vehicle, deputies found two handguns, two plastic bags of suspected cocaine, scales and a glass pipe. The meth was found under a black box containing the scales.

“It’s good proactive work on the deputies’ park,” Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue Jr. said. “They did a great job.”

Perdue said the meth would sell for about $3,500 wholesale.

The driver, 40-year-old Homer J. Smallwood of 1691 Cokesbury Court, was arrested and charged with rear license not illuminated, improper equipment, failure to maintain insurance, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

He was lodged in the Clark County Detention Center.
