Downtown businesses will offer special promotions, sales, refreshments and other surprises to weekend shoppers during downtown Winchester’s annual spring open house event.

The event, called Shop Hop, is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Each participating retailer will have a basket of Easter eggs filled with candy, coupons and other prizes at the register, according to a release from Main Street Winchester. 

With each purchase, customers will be invited to choose an egg to discover what they have won.

There are more chances to win with the Faux Berge Egg Contest, Rachel Alexander, executive director of MSW, said.

“Select retailers decorated large paper mache eggs and have hidden them in their shops,” according to the release. “Customers who spot an egg are invited to take a photo and post it on social media with the hashtag #fauxbergeegg for a chance to win a gift basket from participating downtown retailers.

Hint: follow the bunny prints to find shops with hidden Faux Berge Eggs.”

The Easter Bunny will be hopping around from noon to 3 p.m. as well and will pose for photos with visitors.

“Ask him for an Easter Egg for an egg-stra special surprise,” the release said.

“Downtown Shop Hop is the weekend before Easter,” Alexander said. “It’s the perfect opportunity to pick up something special for your Easter table or for the ‘hostess with the mostest’ to say thanks. With shops that run the gamut from handcrafted artisan items to antiques to gift shops, you are guaranteed to find something one-of-a-kind for your celebration. And with boutiques like Prissy Peach, Sugar Belle’s, Rosebuds and Jako’s, you are also guaranteed to find the perfect Easter ensemble!
