AARP Chapter 632 met Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the James B. Allen Generations Center with 22 members and guests present. President Elizabeth Gay presided.
Following the pledge to the flag, Betty Ratliff Smith gave the invocation. A moment of silence was observed for Janet Rose and Malcolm Stokely, beloved members who passed away after the last meeting in December.
Dot Moberly and Lynn May were recognized for having January birthdays.
Elizabeth reminded members to pay annual membership dues of $6 and to keep a record of their volunteer hours which are needed for submission at the end of the year. She observed, “We are here to serve — not to be served.”
Colista Ledford gave the secretary’s report and Joyce Reffett presented the treasurer’s report.
Don Rose is working on a new membership list. An AARP Chapter Specialist and Chapter Task Force member, he will be going to Frankfort and Louisville to talk with legislators about concerns of people over 50.
Jennifer Howard, Clark County Home Extension Agent, provided tips and distributed leaflets on how to prevent catching the flu.
