An early morning burglary resulted in the loss of more than $1,000 in merchandise from a gaming store.
Winchester Police responded to an alarm at 8:41 a.m. Sunday at Wizards of Game, 1462 W. Lexington Ave., according to department records.
Store owner John Hollifield said the perpetrator broke a glass door to enter the store, which triggered the alarm.
“He took a ton of Pokemon cards, almost $1,000 worth,” he said. The suspect also took a number of Magic cards from a display case before exiting through the broken door.
The store’s cash register was not disturbed, he said.
From surveillance video, Hollifield said the suspect appears to be a child who rode up on a bicycle. Hollifield said the suspect stood outside the store for about 30 minutes before entering.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen him before,” he said.
Hollifield said it was the first time someone had broken into the store during its three years in Winchester.
