Kathleen Rye, 92, of Winchester, passed away Saturday. She was married for 53 years to Virgil Kenton Rye, who passed away in 1997. She was born November 6, 1925, in Winchester, to the late Ernest and Stella Payne Gamboe. She was a long time member of the Salem Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for many years. She was a current member of the First Presbyterian Church and two year resident at the Rose Mary C. Brooks Place. She taught 4-H, serving for a number of years and was an avid quilter and longtime member of the Clark Quilters. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Esther (Paul) Hay and Sarah (Ron) Ingram, three granddaughters, Rachael (Jeremy) Dickinson, Emily (Matt) Ginter and Rachel Claire Hay and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and A.J. Gamboe. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11am at the Winchester Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 130 Windridge Drive, Winchester, KY 40391. Honorary pallbearers will be the Clark Quilters. In care of arrangements is the Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 S. Main Street.
