James Edgar “Handy” Borders

James Edgar “Handy” Borders, 79, widower of Phyllis Henry Borders, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017, at his home. He was born in Fort Gay, WV, on March 15, 1938, to the late Raymond and Fern Newcomb Borders. He was an auto collision repairman and a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church.
Survivors include five children, Ricky (Patricia) Borders, Pamela (Ricky) Smith, Linda Coomer, James Edgar (Tamara) Borders, Jr., and Raymond (Marcie) Borders; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; four siblings, Betty Jean (Roy) Tucker, JoAnna (Ed) Falk, Norma (Ray) Wheeler and Charlie (Carol) Borders; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Pauline (Sonny) Chaney; one brother, Jerry (Lavonne) Borders; and one grandson, Ricky S. Borders.
Services will be at 2:00PM, Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Scobee Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be his sons, Ricky, James and Raymond Borders, Timothy Smith, Tylor Borders, Bobby Coomer and Andrew Borders. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00-8:00PM at Scobee Funeral Home.
