Many citizens wish to serve by assisting throughout the community.

Similarly, local organizations – especially nonprofits – seek to provide such opportunities.

Thankfully, the two interests have now been combined.

According to a press release sent by WinCity Media, a new service – https://www.wincityhelps.org – can be accessed to match volunteers seeking opportunities with organizations seeking volunteer aid.

The website was created when WinCity Media and Humanists of Winchester, a fraternal and community service organization based in the city, partnered together.

“We want to do this for Winchester and Clark County,” said Pete Koutoulas, website developer and Executive Director/CEO of WinCity Media – which publishes a local e-zine titled WinCity Voices. “This project fits perfectly with the values of both WinCity Voices and the Humanists of Winchester.”

The website has been in development since January.

Thus far, eighteen Clark County organizations have submitted volunteer requirements for the site, which are listed in a database alongside contact information and details explaining the type of work they do, type of volunteer work being sought, frequency of need, and more. Potential volunteers can find the right fit that matches their preferable skills, interest, and availability.

Significant data has been collected from numerous organizations – including nonprofits, government agencies, faith-based organizations, and others that utilize volunteer work and provide Clark County residents with services.

Organizations that haven’t currently submitted their volunteer needs can still do so by visiting the website.

By taking action, organizers hope to increase volunteerism throughout the community and provide an effective outlet for students, retirees, anyone with time and dedication to be of service in Clark County and amongst its citizens.

Ron Kibbey, a retired social worker and community activist, stated that the missing link in Clark County is matching those with volunteer desires to specific opportunities.

“Many [organizations] rely on volunteers to help in their service provision,” he said. “And [sic] our community has many opportunities to assist others and programs that are desperate for assistance.”
