Entering Monday night, the Nicholas County Blue Jackets (21-12) were the only force standing in the way of George Rogers Clark High School’s boys basketball team (27-5) and a trip to the 10th Region Championship Game.

Fortunately, the Cards were able to take that next step.

Midway through a competitive first quarter, GRC pulled away and defeated Nicholas County 87-56.

Sophomore Montez Gay led the Cards with 19 points, and 18 from fellow sophomore Maddox Hager.

Junior Amari Bartelson grabbed 10 rebounds.

As a result, they move on to the 10th Region Championship Game on Wednesday, March 19, with a trip to Rupp Arena on the line.
They will take on host Montgomery County (21-10) at Montgomery County High School, with tip-off scheduled at 7:00 p.m.
