Winchester woman celebrates 100th Birthday

The Embry family is praising God and celebrating 100 years of life for our dear Sarah Willie Seals Embry. Sarah was born on January 24, 1925 to Mabel Taylor Seals and Taylor Seals in Madison County, Kentucky. She attended Rosenwald School and graduated from Oliver High School in 1942. She grew up in Clark County and was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she served as the church clerk for approximately 10 plus years. Sarah spent most of her life working at Curlee Clothing Company, in Winchester as a lapel presser until she retired. In 1944 she married the late Earl “Jack” Vernon Embry, together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage until his passing October 5, 2004 and raised one son, Charles Taylor. Sarah is now a devoted member of Broadway Missionary Baptist Church, Winchester Ky. She is known, loved and respected by many. To this day, she recounts her childhood memories of growing up in the country, riding into town by horse and carriage with her horse Billy guiding them safely to and from home. For 15 plus years she worked for Mrs. Doris & Dr. Harold S. Moberly Jr. helping to care for their children and offering janitorial services at Brashear and Moberly MD PSC, medical practice. Sarah enjoys reading The Winchester Sun, sitting on the front porch in the summer , and snacking on popcorn. She is deeply loved and cherished by her family which includes 1 son and daughter in law; Charles and Janis Embry, 3 grandchildren: Angela Embry Hutchinson, Keith Embry and Brian Embry, 5 great grandchildren: Dr. Kinya Embry-Wright, DeAndre Thomas, A’riel Embry, Zaria Fulz, and Braelyn Fulz, and 2 great-great grandchildren Noah Lewis and Noy Wright.
