Winchester would like to wish a Happy Birthday to one of its longest-residing citizens. On January 5th, James Hooten turned 105 years old. Hooten, the father of six as well as a grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather, was born near the current site of Hall’s on the River restaurant and previously lived near the present day Providence Baptist Church on Old Boonesboro Road. He worked many years as a laborer at the American Tobacco Company, later restructured and sold to American Brands, Inc. Join us as we wish Mr. Hooten a Happy 105th Birthday!
