Church of the Living God is located at 114 Franklin Avenue in Winchester.

Recently, it found new staff to help lead the way for parishioners.

As stated in a press release, Pastors Matt and Heather Hall were unanimously elected on Sunday, November 17, to serve as senior pastors. The Hall family will take up the mantle of leadership left by Pastors Tom and Lela Hall – parents of Pastor Matt – who served the congregation for over 33 years.

“We’ve grown up in this house, and it is our greatest honor to carry my dad’s torch and legacy into the future, keeping his voice alive in the earth,” said Pastor Matt Hall. “We love our church family immensely and are seeking God’s wisdom to lead ‘so great a people’ as we pursue His (sic) mission for this house in this community.”

Having both been active at Church of the Living God since childhood, Pastors Matt and Heather Hall are accustomed to its many traditions. While their journey might have started as children playing tag in the church parking lot, it has blossomed into an 18-year marriage producing three children – Keeley, Natalie, and Barrett.

Pastor Matt will bring over 20 years of ministry experience at Church of the Living God – serving in roles including sound and media, youth ministry, and – most recently – as Family Life Pastor. As a graduate of Life Christian University with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Theology, Pastor Matt has been a reliable voice of biblical teaching and preaching at Church of the Living God going back to when he was 18 years old.

Not to be overlooked, Pastor Heather Hall has been actively involved in different capacities needed throughout the church, a longtime member of the COLG praise team, and has shown continual support to Pastor Matt throughout their ministry journey.

The transition follows the wishes of the late Pastor Tom Hall who – alongside his wife – entrusted the next generation with the church’s leadership.

In an act members of the congregation referred to as seeing the providence of Almighty God over this transition, Pastor Tom Hall’s untimely passing came on the Friday following the affirmation of Pastors Matt and Heather Hall to their new roles.

The congregation and leadership of Church of the Living God invite the community of Winchester to celebrate with and pray for Pastors Matt and Heather Hall as they step into their new role. The church remains steadfast in their mission to lead Clark Countians and is excited for what lies ahead under new leadership.
