Henry David Ashe, age 78, passed into Eternal Life on December 10, at home with his family. David, known as an intellectual, is conversing with all the Angels and Saints. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gaston and Marguerite Ashe of Dallas, Texas; his daughter, Elizabeth Ashe; his sister, Georgia Green; and a brother, William Ashe. David is survived by his wife of 49 years, Peggy Craycraft Ashe, a sister Mary Hollon (Rick), and a son, John Xavier Ashe (Leah), and seven grandchildren: Connor, Emily, Xander David, Jorgito, Leo, Hunter Sensing, Taylor Carlock (Justin) and a great grandchild, Alice. David was known for his depth of love and compassion for others. David was a Visionary. David began his service to others by joining VISTA, helping to rebuild the community after the burning of Watts in LA. He attended Subiaco Academy at the Benedictine Monastery in Arkansas during High School. David attended several universities and colleges. He obtained degrees from North Texas in Denton and Murray State, Murray, Kentucky. David was employed as a Clinical Psychologist in Eastern Kentucky prior to moving to Georgia where he worked at Central State Hospital initially and served 28 years as the Executive Director of Clayton County Mental Health. During his retirement he was elected to serve on the Clayton County School Board. David was instrumental in forming a Lay Carmeilte Community at St Philip Benizi Catholic Church, 581 Flint River Rd. Jonesboro, Georgia, where his Mass begins at 12 noon on Tuesday, December 17. His remains will be buried next to his daughter at Sherwood Cemetery on Tara Blvd., Jonesboro.
