People always hope to purchase high-quality items at a good price.
Clark Countians just gained another significant reason to do so.
Melanie’s Premium Outlet is now open at 810 Suite B on Bypass Road, near DJ’s Steakhouse, next to Cupcake Apothecary and Metro by T-Mobile.
The business offers retail products at an outlet price. It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and is closed on Sunday and Monday.
“The whole idea is to buy premium outlet stuff,” said Robert Pritchett, Owner of Melanie’s Premium.
As such, various inventory is and will continue to be offered at the business.
“We’ve got juicers out there. We’ve got electric skillets…we have a lot of clothes,” stated Pritchett. “These are name brand clothes sizes…on the shopping channels, they’re priced anywhere from $25 to $125 and we’re from $6 to $20.”
Such discounts follow the business’s goal of selling items at approximately 30-90 percent off the general retail cost.
A number of other goods—such as a Wolfgang Puck air fryer, University of Kentucky memorabilia, holiday-themed miniature Christmas trees, and more—are also available.
“During Christmas, you’ll see many more toys here,” Pritchett said. “We’ve got everything from snowmen [and] Santa Clauses to carousels.”
Yet that’s not all.
The business places customer service as a top priority.
“The concept is…you come in, get a free coffee, [or] bottles of water while you shop,” she said. “While walking around shopping, there are baskets to carry around. Here’s what you’ll want to buy. You’ll see it changing a lot.”
Pritchett’s mother, Marlene, cut the ribbon during a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating its opening and membership in the Winchester-Clark County Chamber of Commerce.
Marlene, Robert, and her four other children were all present at the event.
Teresa Harper, Pritchett’s sister who frequently worked the front counter at the now-closed Broadway Cafe – will be commonly seen at the store.
For the Pritchett family – who are Winchester natives – the sense of being together and serving Winchester remains close.
Pritchett acknowledged that his mother played a large role in the business idea.
“We’re all still here in Winchester…we want to keep supporting Winchester and supporting [local] groups,” he said.
The business is dedicated to family and is named after Robert’s late wife, Melanie, who passed away in 2021.
“It’s really in tribute to her,” Robert Pritchett said.
Future plans even include expansion.
“If this does well…I think we’ll put one in Frankfort next,” he said.
