Dorothy Watkins, 59, of Owensboro formerly from Clay City, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born June 10, 1965 in Montgomery County, Kentucky. Dorothy worked as a correctional officer for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She enjoyed camping, knitting, crocheting, reading and gardening. She was preceded in death by her mother, Delphia Craig; sisters, Evelyn Joyce VanCleve and Susan Owens; and a brother, Ernest VanCleve. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Omer Watkins, Jr.; children, Stephanie VanCleve (Jesse Burke), Alex Watkins, Omer Lee Watkins, III, Joseph Wade Watkins, Chasity Watkins, and Harlee Watkins; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Joann Manning and Debbie Booth; and a brother, Orville VanCleve. A private family burial will be held at Brown Family Cemetery in Powell County, Kentucky at a later date. James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of her arrangements.
