Gene Ardatha Skinner, 83, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on September 19, 1940, and died in Clark County, Kentucky, on August 12, 2024.
Gene was the son of Nora Skinner and Elmo Skinner; husband of 52 years to his “other wing” Leaetta Eades Skinner; father to Leonard Skinner (Sybil), Nathaniel Skinner (Josie); Papaw to Kaitlin Skinner, Joseph, Jackson and Sterling: Loving Uncle to Shane Skinner, Larry Phillips, Caroline Phillips, Donna Schwiegeraht and Kenny Uhlman; brother to Cecelia Uhlman, Ron Skinner, William Skinner, Carol Wilf; brother-in-law to Deborah Phillips; nephew to two surviving aunts, Betty Ballard and Roxie Hampton.
Gene served in the U.S. Navy for eight years during the Cold War Era. After he served our country, he began a career at Rockwell International, which led to his retirement. Gene and Leaetta attended Eastside Baptist Church for many years and found comfort in the congregation’s fellowship. Gene was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Gene enjoyed the solace of being on the farm with Leaetta throughout his life.
Family will receive friends at Scobee Funeral Home on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 12:00PM until time of service at 1:00PM. Pastor Joe Price will officiate, and burial will follow in Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Leonard, Nathan and Shane Skinner, Joseph Hagewood, Larry Phillips II, and Jacob Phillips will be the pallbearers. Kenny Uhlman, Logan Phillips, and Timothy Phillips will be the honorary pallbearers.
