Tourism commission announces new executive director

The Winchester-Clark County Tourism Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Jill Hamlin as the new Executive Director of Tourism. Hamlin brings a wealth of experience and a fresh vision to the position, promising to elevate Winchester and Clark County as a premier destination for visitors.

Hamlin’s extensive background in tourism, arts, and community engagement positions her perfectly to lead the tourism commission. She is the founder of the Appalachian Arts & Entertainment Awards (APPYS). Her dedication to promoting the cultural and natural heritage of the Appalachian region is well documented and deeply respected.

In addition to her leadership roles, Hamlin has taught Cultural Anthropology at the college level and holds a bachelor’s degree from Morehead State University with a major in Sociology and a minor in Traditional Music. Hamlin holds a master’s degree in Ethnomusicology from Queen’s University Belfast in Northern Ireland.

“I am honored to join the Winchester-Clark County Tourism Commission and to work with such a dynamic and vibrant community,” said Hamlin. “My goal is to showcase the unique attractions, rich history, and cultural diversity of Winchester and Clark County, making it a must-visit destination for tourists.”

In her new role, Hamlin plans to implement strategic initiatives to boost local tourism, support local businesses, and enhance visitor experiences.

When she is not working, Hamlin can often be found at the local dog park with her beloved dog, Sir Wade.

Her passion for the arts and community development and her strategic vision make her the ideal leader to steer Winchester and Clark County toward a prosperous future,” Tourism Commission Chair Elizabeth Chalfant said.
