Winchester Elks Lodge #2816, located at 255 Shoppers Drive, seeks to help individuals in multiple ways. 

This upcoming Saturday, they’ll be helping members of a vulnerable population. 

Both a buffet-style breakfast and a charity ride are scheduled, with proceeds and other donations benefiting kids battling Cancer. 

The buffet-style breakfast will take place on Saturday, June 27, at the Shoppers Drive location from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., while the Kids with Cancer Charity Ride 2024 begins at 11:30 a.m. and registration opens at 9:30 a.m. 

“I tell people all the time [that] if you want to see me cry, it’ll have to be something with a kid or a veteran,” said Larry Hall, Exalted Ruler with Winchester Elks Lodge #2816. “I love kids. I can’t stand to see a kid sick. It’s rewarding…all our members feel the same way.” 

The day’s events are part of an ongoing series of activities and more by the Kentucky Elks’ Association. 

The Kentucky State Major Project aids families with children affected by Cancer. It also provides two summer camps free of charge to campers. 

They are named Camp Quality and Camp Indian Summer. 

“It just lets kids be kids again,” Hall said. “It gives them a week not to be stressed and worried…they do many things at these camps for kids.” 

The buffet-style breakfast is open to the public and costs $10 per individual.

All proceeds go toward the Elks Lodge’s charity benefiting kids with CancerCancer, and previous breakfasts have included hundreds of attendees. 

Those attending can enjoy a bevy of food items, such as bacon and eggs, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and more. 

Following breakfast, the charity ride begins. 

“You can ride or drive however anybody wants to,” Hall added. “We’ll have multiple stops throughout the day, and when we get back around 4 or 4:30, everybody that rides and participates [will] have another dinner.” 

Along with food and music at the lodge, several donated items will be auctioned to the public. 

While plenty of donations have arrived, individuals are welcome to drop off additional items at the Shoppers’ Drive location any time after 5:00 p.m. throughout the week.
