A Flag Day Ceremony will take place this week in Winchester.

The event commemorates when the flag of the United States was adopted on June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.

Coinciding with the 247th anniversary of the date, the ceremony will occur on Friday, June 14th, at 5:00 p.m.

It will be at Winchester Elks Lodge #2816, located at 255 Shoppers Drive in Winchester.

The event is open to the public as others gather to remember and honor the date.
