At the Wednesday morning meeting of the Clark County Fiscal Court that took place on March 13, paving projects set to begin next week were discussed. 

After several magistrates, including Robert Blanton, advised clarity for the community, the known locations have been confirmed. 

According to a news release by the Clark County Road Department, several roads will have paving performed on them during a period between March 18 through March 31. 

“This project consisting of over 250 dump truck loads of asphalt will be forced to use Boone [Avenue]. I have contacted [Winchester Police Department] as these are local trucks and not traveling through,” communicated Clark County Road Supervisor Allan Curtis via email. “They will be using Muddy Creek KY 974 as the main route to access all but Elkins Station. Due to weight limits on bridges, or road conditions it is nearly impossible to come off the KY 89 Irvine [Road].” 

The release was sent in an effort to update community members and others, as well as to help mitigate any concerns that come with temporarily delaying commuters. 

“I hope you bear with us while we complete these needed projects,” Curtis added. 

Paving operations will begin on Howard Creek Rd. CR-1124 from the intersection of White Conkwright Rd. KY 974 for approximately 1.4 miles. 

Paving operations will begin on Red River Rd. CR-1137 from Baesler Ln. PV-1114 for approximately 2.08 miles to the low water crossing at Upper Howard Creek. 

Paving operations will begin on Dry Fork Rd. CR-1130 from the intersection of Muddy Creek Rd. KY 974 for approximately 3.5 miles to the end of intersection with Red River Rd. KY 974. 

Paving operations will begin on Elkins Station Rd. CR-1210 from the intersection of Old Boonesboro Rd. CR-1244 for approximately 2.7 miles ending at the Harris Branch crossing. 

The list encompasses 9.724 miles of full width road resurfacing, with all preparatory work currently ongoing and being completed courtesy of the Clark County Road Department. 

The projects are also weather dependent, with any potential changes to be announced. 

Presently, approximately 37 miles of full width road resurfacing has been completed since 2019. 

The Clark County Road Department states that, upon the conclusion of the project, 47 out of the 217 miles of full width road resurfacing will be complete. 

Potholes and road damage on county roads will be addressed in the coming weeks.
