The Fly Witches, which was the first bungee fitness studio to open in the central Kentucky area, has for a few years occupied a space near Bypass Road.
As of this week, its new location can be found in the heart of the city.
At a breakfast of the Winchester-Clark County Chamber of Commerce on Monday, February 12th, The Fly Witches celebrated their new location at 7 N. Main Street – the former site of D & S Hardware.
“We are really excited to be able to have our breakfast and ribbon cutting today in beautiful, historic downtown,” said Callie Thornton, owner and co-founder of The Fly Witches. “It’s amazing to see the transformation from D & S Hardware to the bungee fitness studio and we’re really honored to get the opportunity to keep something going in here.”
Through bungee fitness, The Fly Witches studio seeks to provide for its clients cardio exercise that also makes the process easy on a user’s joint.
A number of classes from beginner to more advanced, which also provide strength training, are available.
Prior to Monday’s event, the studio held an open house on Saturday afternoon that allowed visitors a unique opportunity.
“Everyone showed us so much support. It went so well,” said Becca Bingamon, Studio Manager and co-founder.
“We had thirty new people come. We had some [from] Winchester, but they’re [also] coming from a long distance,” Thornton said, noting that a free class was offered. “We also did a charcuterie and bungee event later that evening. I think that it’s nice because it gets people in here and they can see [that] it’s less intimidating.”
Since its founding in the summer of 2022, the bungee fitness studio has seen continual growth.
Also providing yoga, as well as step classes and various pilates classes since the summer of 2023, they’ll soon be adding Zumba – a fitness program involving cardio and Latin-inspired dance.
“We’re really excited to have Zumba because you don’t need anything but yourself,” Bingamon said. “It’s very modifiable, and any age group can do it. It’s fun and new.”
When it comes to space, the area inside the building at 7 North Main Street is advantageous. “With this location, we’re able to have larger bungie classes. We were divided into two classrooms of four. We have 13 stations right now and 14 stations will be coming when the renovations for the upstairs apartments are complete,” Thornton said. “I think that’s nice to have a separate classroom.”
Among other perks, the company also offers private parties.
While most classes will be in the evening, a QR code on the outdoor glass of the building can be scanned to learn additional information about scheduling, view the business’ website, and more.
With its new location, The Fly Witches hopes to provide furthermore for Winchester.
“We just want to thank the community for [their] support and we hope to see them down here,” Thornton said.
