Clark Regional Medical Center (CRMC) recently announced a new concept for breast cancer screenings with its walk-in mammogram program, in addition to being designated as a Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center by the American College of Radiology® (ACR®).
The second 3D mammography machine allows CRMC to offer walk-in screening mammograms.
“We want scheduling a mammogram to be as convenient as possible for women in the communities we serve,” said Sheri Reynolds, the senior director of Outpatient Services at CRMC. “Whether you’ve taken off work for another appointment or just have availability in your day, scheduling a mammogram should not be a barrier in receiving breast screenings.”
However, the walk-in mammography program does not replace scheduled mammography appointments. Scheduled appointments are still recommended for women needing a specific time slot. The walk-in appointments are designed for patients needing an initial or annual screening and do not include any additional or diagnostic screening services.
The CRMC Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center is open Monday-Friday (8 a.m.-3 p.m. and is located in the Clark Clinic A building – 225 Hospital Drive. To schedule an appointment in advance, please call the central scheduling department at 833-234-4050, option 2.
The ARC designation means a facility has earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast MRI and breast ultrasound.
“We are proud of the incredible care teams at Clark Regional who ensure patients receive exceptional care every day,” said Matt Smith, the chief executive officer at CRMC. “The Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center accreditation is a reflection of the high standards we hold for safety and quality and our culture of continual improvement.”
To become a Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center, ACR board-certified physicians and medical physicists conducted peer-review evaluations in each breast imaging modality to determine that CRMC has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.
