Temperatures finally got above freezing Thursday in Winchester after two and a half inches of snow and frigid temperatures that hit the single digits early in the week.
However, Old Man Winter is not done with central Kentucky.
More wintry weather is forecast for late Thursday into early Friday.
The National Weather Service bureau in Louisville has the area under a Winter Weather Advisory until 7 p.m. Friday.
The advisory states: “An initial wintry mix of snow and some freezing rain is expected Thursday afternoon with a short period of freezing drizzle Thursday evening. Widespread light to moderate snow is expected late Thursday night and through the day on Friday. Total snowfall accumulations of 1 to 3 inches with a small glaze of icing will be possible across southern Indiana and northern portions of Kentucky.”
Motorists are advised that slippery road conditions are expected and to proceed with caution during Friday morning’s commute.
The forecast calls for highs in the 20s and lows in the single digits over the weekend before more seasonable weather arrives on Monday.
