BOE approves first reading of school calendars

Parents and guardians, get out your pencils and calendars because the first reading of the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school calendars was recently approved by the Clark County Public Schools Board of Education.
This was the first time in recent history that the board approved a calendar two years in advance.
The 2024-25 calendar will begin with professional development days on Aug. 5-8. Opening day for staff will be on the 9th, followed by teacher works days on the 12th-13th. Students will return to class on the 14th.
The Labor Day holiday will be on Sept. 2.
Fall break will be Oct. 14-18.
Teachers will get a work day on Nov. 4, followed by a day of no classes in observance of Election Day on the 5th.
Thanksgiving break will be from the 27th-29th.
Winter break will be Dec. 23 through Jan.6. The district will be closed on the 20th due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Another teacher work day is scheduled for Feb. 14, and classes will be canceled on the 17th for President’s Day.
Next year’s spring break will be March 31-April 4.
Teachers will get another work day on May 20, Primary Election Day. The last day for students will be on the 22nd, and the closing day for the entire district will be on the 23rd.

Schools will be closed for Labor Day on Sept. 1 and for fall break on Oct. 13-17.
District teachers will get another work day on Election Day, Nov. 4. Thanksgiving break will be from the 26th to the 28th.
Winter break begins on Dec. 22 and will last until Jan.2.
Schools will again be closed on Jan. 19 for MLK Day.
There will be another teacher work day on Feb. 13 followed by the President’s Day holiday on the 16th.
Spring break 2026 will be from March 30 through April 3.
The year’s final teacher work day will be on Primary Election Day, May 19. The last day of classes for students will be on the 21st. Closing day for the entire district will be on the 22nd.
The second and final reading of the calendars is scheduled for a future board meeting.
