Ray Allen Brookshire, 79, a true American farmer, of Winchester Kentucky, went to his heavenly home with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday September 14th, 2023. Born on June 22nd, 1944, in Winchester to the late Garland Cecil and Anna Mary Johnson Brookshire, he worked as a computer programmer at the Bluegrass Army Depot for 27 years prior to retirement, while also farming tobacco and cattle. He was a devoted husband to the late Jane Carlton Sullivan, his wife of 38 years, a loving father, and a cherished grandfather. For 28 years, he served as a deacon of Allansville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his four children; Robert Allen, Randy Scott and Miranda, Richard Paul and Jennifer, Rebecca Jane Palmer and Kelly; his beloved grandchildren Elijah Alexander, Andrew Silas, Gabriel Ray Palmer, Caroline Elizabeth, Lucille Elizabeth, Aubree Jane Palmer, and Isabella Sophia; his siblings Vivian Williams, Garland, Ronald and Sherry, Mamie Hall, and Sue and Stan Noble; his brothers-in-laws James Lee Sullivan Jr. and Catherine, and Joseph Eugene Sullivan and Sandra; and many precious nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Arthur C. Brookshire, his life-long friend Dennis Klave and remained a christian brother to Joyce Klave.
Pallbearers will be his loyal nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be his beautiful nieces, the men of Allansville Baptist Church, and his friends of our farming community.
Visitation will be on Sunday September 17th from 6-8 p.m. and the funeral service will be Monday September 18th at 10 a.m., both at Allansville Baptist Church.
