Leonard “Leo” Shortridge, Jr., 73, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 9, 2023. He was the loving husband of Marsha Shortridge for 52 years. A native of Winchester, Kentucky, he was born on April 1, 1950, to Louise Adams and the late Leonard C.B. Shortridge. He was an active member of Central Baptist Church and was retired from IBM after 41 1/2 years. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 15 years. Leonard was on the Board of Adjustments. He was instrumental in creating the Winchester Youth Soccer League and was a past president of the league. He also coached baseball and soccer for many years.
Additional survivors include one daughter: Stephanie (Bobby) Rice; two sons: Paul David (Stacy) Shortridge and Leonard (December) Shortridge III; grandchildren: Dustin Rice, Steven Rice, Nick Rice, Mason Shortridge, Logan Shortridge, Cameron Shortridge, Adyson Shortridge and Emersyn Shortridge; sister: Donna (Jerald) McNutt; and brother: Fred (Sandy) Shortridge.
He was preceded in death by his sister: Brenda Adams; brother: Larry Shortridge; and niece: Angela Adams.
Services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Leon Pace Memorial Chapel by Michael Houchens and Ed Burtner. A burial will follow in the Winchester Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and Honorary Pallbearers will be Ed Burtner, Dr. Brian Andreas, Glenda Hoffman’s Sunday School class, and Donnie Pelfrey.
Visitation will be from 5PM-7PM Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Leon Pace Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice East, 407 Shoppers Drive or Central Baptist Church, 101 West Lexington Avenue.
