Following a difficult 2020, the return of many prior events has created cause for excitement.
Once again, Winchester residents have a returning event to look forward to.
A free concert at the Clark County Public Library, beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30th, will let guests eat, play games, and enjoy a night of live music entertainment.
“Several years ago, we had a number of concerts and [other] things in the library’s lawn and parking lot space,” said Jeff Gurnee, the library’s assistant director. “We wanted to bring it back after COVID.”
The 7:00 p.m. concert will feature Midlife Harmony, a band from Lexington that – according to its official website – “brings you your favorite songs from the ’60s and 70s infused with beautiful harmony and an acoustic flair.”
Previously, the group has showcased works from James Taylor, Crosby Stills & Nash, The Mamas & The Papas, The Beatles, The Temptations, Steely Dan, and The Everly Brothers.
Just as well, the tentative schedule allows for other entertainment.
Barring rain- or other inclement weather, food and different lawn games will be available starting at 5:00 p.m.
Thus, individuals can expect to encounter corn hole, ring toss, horseshoes and more.
The Wolves Den food truck appears for those looking to pick up something to eat in person or interested in bringing something home.
Out of Richmond, The Wolves Den provides drinks, including sodas, coffee, tea, and edible options such as a chili cheese dog, pork n’ slaw sandwich, and cheddar bacon ranch fries.
With so much happening at the Clark County Public Library, the staff hopes it reminds the community of the many opportunities available, particularly as the summer unfolds.
“Everyone knows that we’re here, but sometimes in the busy nature of today’s world, they can forget about us,” Gurnee said. “It’s just another good reminder of all the programs and services we offer.”
While drawing awareness to the library is one benefit, seeing the community gathering is another joy.
“We’ve had success in the past, and it’s just another good example that while the library is known for a lot of things…we’re also one to do things to keep that opinion that we’re just a good community resource and community place,” Gurnee added. “Anytime we can do something [that’s] fun, family-friendly, [and] free…we like to do those things.”
In the event of rain or inclement weather, previously forecast for Friday, the concert will still take place and move indoors.
Another concert is scheduled for July 28, with hopes to expand into the following months.
