A Winchester elementary school has announced a new principal.

Clark County Public Schools revealed that Megan Swart accepted the position of principal at Conkwright Elementary School in a post on the district’s Facebook page last week.

“I am humbled and grateful to be chosen to lead our Colt family in this new role,” Swart said. “It’s my joy to work alongside our phenomenal staff and amazing students every day. I look forward to seeing the continued growth we will achieve together.”

The new principal is a familiar face at the school and in Clark County.

Swart has spent the last three years as Conkwright’s assistant principal and has worked in three other schools across the district: Baker Intermediate, Clark Middle and The Phoenix Academy.

She is married to Tom Swart, the assistant principal at Robert D. Campbell Junior High School. The couple have two children, Elayna and Jack.

Swart replaces Travis Marcum, who was named the 2022 Principal of the Year by the Kentucky School Counselor Association.
