With a little more than a week to go before the end of the regular season, the George Rogers Clark Lady Cardinals look to pick up momentum.
The Lady Cards (8-16) picked up a crucial 7-5 victory over the Bourbon County Lady Colonels in Paris on Tuesday. The win improved the team’s record against district foes to 4-2 and guarantees them the no. 2 seed in the upcoming 40th District Tournament.
The Lady Cards played Rowan County at home on Wednesday but were bested 3-0 by the visitors from the 16th Region. GRC hits the road on Thursday for a clash with Franklin County.
Eighth-grader Lilli Hill continues her hot play at bat and in the pitching circle. Hill is hitting .517 with four home runs, 16 RBIs and 31 hits, all of which are good for the team lead. In the circle, Hill is 2-2 on the year with two saves and a 3.34 ERA. She has a team-leading 86 strikeouts against only 27 walks.
GRC’s lineup has also seen solid hitting from the likes of sophomores Adddison Wilson (.286, 12 RBIs) and Addison Rogers (.300) and senior Ryleigh VanHoose (.377).
