James “Jim” Ernest Roarx, 73, passed away on Wednesday, January 25th almost 3 months after the passing of his wife of 54 years, Leslie Morgeson Roarx. Jim was born to James and Mary Riley Roarx on December 7, 1949 in Lebanon, KY. He was retired from Bellsouth as a claims manager and, in retirement, worked for the Clark County Board Of Education as a bus driver and dispatcher.
Jim is survived by three loving children, Kelley (Joe) Lingle, St. Louis, MO; Britt (Tracy) Roarx, Crestwood, KY; and Stephanie (Hashim) Sultan, Geneva, Switzerland. Six fantastic grandchildren, Aaron(Hannah) Roarx; Tanner (Kimberly) Roarx; Hunter Bernardi; Madi Lingle; Sami Lingle; and Rayan Sultan; and one brother-in-law, Joe (Terry, deceased) Morgeson. In addition to his loving wife, Jim is preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Leslie “Buster” and Nancy Hollon Morgeson, and sister-in-law, Terry Morgeson.
After moving his family to Winchester from Louisville in 1975, Jim was an active member of the Winchester community. He was a past president of Winchester Little League Baseball, Basketball, and Football where he also coached for each; past president of Winchester Kiwanis Club; former president of Kentucky Claims Association; prior member and Board of Director of The Committee of 101 (now known as Blue Coats); former Board of Director for WMU; past member and president of The Winchester Chorale; and was formerly a Deacon, Elder, and devoted Sunday School teacher for many years at Calvary Christian Church then Christview Christian Church.
Visitation was open to family and friends on Monday, January 30th from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Jim’s funeral is on Tuesday, January 31st at 11:00am all held at Christview Christian Church, 3133 Boonesboro Rd, Winchester, KY. Pallbearers: Aaron Roarx, Tanner Roarx, Hunter Bernardi, Joe Lingle, Don Bowman and Leroy Williams. Honorary pallbearer: Bill Castle. Burial will follow the funeral on Tuesday at Old Liberty Cemetery, Bradfordsville, KY. Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
